Consultation
I am Dr. Lucas Klein. Welcome to my site. Let me begin by telling you something about how I tend think. If you like what you are reading, and you want to set up a consultation, I suggest that we hold a few sessions and evaluate whether it seems to both of us that I could be useful to you.
I believe people need to feel safe enough to venture forward in life in a way where they can do things that help them move past old ways of being that have been the cause of so much pain. That requisite safety is known through a relationship with someone else, or is torn down by the same. Relationships are the organizers of the mind, which is why we are so moved and affected by the so called past. Our pasts are of course playing out in real time between ourselves and others as we demonstrate to and with others how we have been shaped by being and time. Our unconscious organizing principles that were fashioned to help us understand emotional experience were learned in early development in order to protect us from disconnection, and symptoms and problems are often a reflection of unconscious efforts to feel cohesive as a self and to remain connected to loved ones.
Working with me would involve understanding your context and history, and also acting as an active agent of change in your life. Change and improvement is only possible if you can take responsibility for the things that could be under your control. Developing a more complete understanding of how your mind works is possible through therapy, and such an endeavor can help you take more control of your life.
If you would like to schedule, please call, email, or submit the contact form at the top of the page. I usually return calls within the same day or the next. If you do not hear from me within one business day, please assume that my practice is full, but that I will keep your number on hand if a space opens.

Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis is the most comprehensive and sophisticated form of therapy offered. A clinician must be a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist and subsequently train for 5 years for over 20 hours weekly. This training includes personal analysis for the trainee, didactic course work, and supervision for 3-5 full cases. Psychoanalysis involves 3 to 4 meetings weekly for a period of time that cannot and should not be pre-specified. You would be endeavoring to unfold and examine your personality in the deepest way possible and in the context of our regular conversations together.
